FINAL RANKINGS

Like Wile E. Coyote and his hunt for his eternal foe, the ever-elusive Road Runner, the Mount Olive Trojans have spent the last few years falling just short of reaching their ultimate goal. MOC had won the Conference Carolinas regular-season and tournament championships the past three seasons and have tallied over 100 wins the past two seasons, however despite all their success, the Trojans hadn? completed their loftiest of ambitions, being the one team that gets to end their season with a win. The small North Carolina school has been hungry for a championship, but have had to settle on feasting on the dust of others as they sent the Trojans packing back to campus. In fact, no athletic team in school history could ever claim at national championship. However that all changed when the Trojans won the NCAA Division II College World Series title game in commanding fashion, usurping Ouachita Baptist? title aspirations, and beating the Tigers 6-2 in Sauget, Il.

Mount Olive started the season ranked number seven in Ping!Baseball? inaugural Division II baseball poll, but quickly jumped into the top three and then the top spot a month into the season. A small hiccup two thirds of the way into the season when they lost back to back games to Catawba and Coker dropped MOC to the number two spot to Southern Arkansas, but they quickly retook the lead position and didn? relinquish it the rest of the way. In the South Atlantic Region, the top seeded Trojans incurred just their sixth loss of the season to upset minded USC Aiken and were sent to the loser? bracket. However Mount Olive was able to claw their way out and eliminate Columbus State before getting revenge against the Pacers in two must win games to sent themselves to the championship series.

The Mount Olive Trojans "Teamius Supremius".
