Jacksonville State senior outfielder Clay Whittemore had a career-week last week, and considering the numbers he's posted during his All-American career, that really saying something. The Cullman, Alabama, native posted three straight games with four hits and added three more in the series finale to go 15-for-21 (.714 average) for the week. He had four homeruns, four doubles, eight RBI and rocketed his batting average 42 points to a lofty .401 for the season. Whittemore was 6-for-7 last week with ducks on the pond and was 4-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

2007 was a season to forget as Texas pitcher Kenn Kasparek missed the entire year due to injury. However last week was one to remember as the 6'10" Texan threw 17.0 shutout innings, allowing just three hits, one walk and hit two batters. He pitched the 20th no-hitter in school history against the Texas State Bobcats, facing the minimum 27 hitters for the first-time in school history. He hit one batter in the game, but induced a double play from the next batter. As if that wasn't enough, he pitched eight scoreless innings on just three hits and one walk just five days later against Baylor. He fanned 18 batters over the two games with nine in both games.

Mercyhurst College sophomore pitcher Steve Grife hurled two complete game gems against GLIAC foes Ashland and Northwood last week to help earn the Lakers their fourth-straight winning season. Grife worked 14 innings, surrendering just one run and walking only a single batter while striking out 17. Against the Ashland Ealges, the Sheffield Lake, Ohio native allowed one run on five hits and struck out five. Just three days later he was dominant once again against the Northwood Timberwolves, as he didn't allow a single walk or a run and struck out a career-high 12 to help the Lakers to a 1-0 victory.
