Michael Rockett drank the milkshake of Sacred Heart pitching this past weekend, leading UTSA to a four-game sweep over the Pioneers. The junior centerfielder batted 10-for-16 (.625 avg.) with four doubles, a triple, a homerun and nine RBIs to lead the Roadrunners. He compiled a 1.188 slugging percentage on the strength of 19 total bases and scored six times. The highlight of his weekend came in Saturday's nightcap when he hit for the cycle, a first in the program's 17-year history, in the game's first four innings. Rockett doubled in the first inning, singled in the second, homered in the third and tripled in the fourth before taking the rest of the game off with a career-high six RBI.

Norfolk State senior Joey Seal set a new Norfolk State single-game record by pitching 11 innings in Saturday's 1-0, 12-inning win over reigning Patriot League champion Lafayette. Seal allowed just four hits, no runs, one walk (an intentional pass in the 10th inning) and struck out a career-high tying 11 batters. He set down 16 straight batters from the fourth through ninth innings. Unfortunately Seal had to settle for a no decision, as it wasn’t until a late-inning Spartan defensive replacement plated the winning run with a two-out, bases-loaded RBI single in the bottom of the 12th to win the game for NSU.

USC Aiken continues to climb up the Ping!Baseball DII rankings, moving up to the twelve spot after defeating North Greenville and sweeping a three game series against Barton to improve to 15-3 on the season. A big part of the Pacers' standing's surge is junior outfielder Gary Owens who is this week's DII Performance of the Week. The junior outfielder batted .563 and slugged 1.125 in four games last week. After going 1-for-1 with a walk in Thursday's 11-8 win over North Greenville, Owens caught fire against Barton, caging the Bulldogs with eight hits in 15 at bats with three homeruns and nine RBI. Owens even pitched in Saturday's game, hurling the final inning without allowing any hits and striking out one.
